Nagaoka University of Technology has endorsed and registered as a sponsor for the United Nations International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD2022), which began on Thursday, June 30.

At the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, December 2, 2021, Member States promulgated the year 2022 (June 30, 2022 to June 30, 2023) as the IYBSSD. The initiative invites stakeholders to observe and raise awareness of the importance of basic sciences for sustainable development. Within Japan, the Science Council of Japan is heading up the promotion effort as an IYBSSD supporting organization.
